Building Operations

Building Operators ensure our buildings run smoothly and efficiently. They play a critical role in the business by ensuring that building systems are maintained and safe. The building operator stream allows for numerous growth opportunities within the team.

Building Operator

Assist in the efficient, effective and successful management of all base building equipment and systems. Ensure our buildings are being managed and maintained in a safe, presentable and environmentally friendly manner.

Operations Manager

Responsible for ensuring that our buildings are presented and operated according to the best possible standards. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about technical operations but also enjoys developing and mentoring people.

Investments

The investments team plays a key role in analyzing and interpreting data, which ultimately influences strategy and decisions at the company. Roles in investment will allow you to deepen your understanding of real estate and valuation. There are several opportunities for career progression in the investments stream.

Investment Analyst

Be a part of analytics reporting, financial modelling and interpreting data to tell compelling stories that will help influence strategy and decisions.

Senior Analyst, Investments

Hone your keen sense and ability to identify and proactively pursue real estate opportunities by deepening your fundamental understanding of real estate, valuation and the investment processes.

Director, Investment Funds

Become a client-focused ambassador who exudes a positive image of the company alongside a team of trusted professionals. A results-driven role where an energetic individual will thrive while delivering the highest level of customer service and quality of work.

Property Management

Property managers operate and maintain the properties under our care. A big part of their role is creating great experiences for the people who live or work in our buildings. There are numerous opportunities for career progression in the property management stream.

Tenant services co-ordinator

Delivers prompt and exemplary tenant service and is the primary contact for inquiries.

Asset Management

Asset managers develop strategies to maximize the value and cash flow of the properties we manage. They conduct financial analyses, create annual budgets and business plans, manage risks and more. In essence, they act like a property owner and look out for the real owner’s best interests. The asset management job stream offers many opportunities for career development and advancement.

Asset management analyst

Provides financial analysis data for decision-making on acquisitions, dispositions, property development, appraisals and other asset management activities.

Since 2015, GWLRA has been involved with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society’s (CCIS) Power Engineering program. The program provides opportunities for new and existing immigrants to Canada to gain valuable Canadian experience in building operations.

Summer Student Program

Each year, our Summer Student Program gives university and college students passionate about real estate the opportunity to build new skills.

The Program begins in early May with executive-led orientation, practical career advice and welcoming socials that introduce students to GWLRA’s people, opportunities and culture. From there, students visit several buildings, learning how teams manage properties, solve everyday challenges and create welcoming experiences for everyone who uses these spaces. Finally, students work in groups on a case study, explore real business questions and apply practical skills before presenting recommendations to GWLRA’s Executive Committee.
