Building Operations
Building Operators ensure our buildings run smoothly and efficiently. They play a critical role in the business by ensuring that building systems are maintained and safe. The building operator stream allows for numerous growth opportunities within the team.
Building Operator
Assist in the efficient, effective and successful management of all base building equipment and systems. Ensure our buildings are being managed and maintained in a safe, presentable and environmentally friendly manner.
Senior Building Operator
Ensure that building systems are being operated and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Operations Supervisor
Supervise the daily activities of the Operations department in one or more buildings. Warrant the efficient, effective and productive management of the physical plant facilities and operating staff.
Operations Manager
Responsible for ensuring that our buildings are presented and operated according to the best possible standards. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about technical operations but also enjoys developing and mentoring people.
Investments
The investments team plays a key role in analyzing and interpreting data which ultimately influences strategy and decisions at the company. VP, Investments
Lead growth of GWLRA and client portfolios by executing on the various mandates and through coordination and oversight of the national Investments team.
Property Management
Property managers operate and maintain the properties under our care. A big part of their role is creating great experiences for the people who live or work in our buildings. There are numerous opportunities for career progression in the property management stream.
Tenant services co-ordinator
Delivers prompt and exemplary tenant service and is the primary contact for inquiries.
Property administrator
Performs administrative duties such as processing lease agreements and rental payments as well as providing exceptional tenant service.
Senior property administrator
Handles more challenging administrative tasks, including budget preparations, and supervises and trains other property administrators.
Assistant property manager
Assists the property manager in developing budgets and monthly reports, and also oversees tenant services and property administration.
Property manager
Is responsible for operating and maintaining all properties within an assigned portfolio, as well as managing annual budgets.
Senior property manager
Manages a large property or portfolio and oversees large operating and capital budgets.
Asset Management
Asset managers develop strategies to maximize the value and cash flow of the properties we manage. They conduct financial analyses, create annual budgets and business plans, manage risks and more. In essence, they act like a property owner and look out for the real owner’s best interests. The asset management job stream offers many opportunities for career development and advancement.
Asset management analyst
Provides financial analysis data for decision-making on acquisitions, dispositions, property development, appraisals and other asset management activities.
Senior asset management analyst
Conducts in-depth analysis related to asset valuation, analysis of lease transactions, capital spending, third-party appraisals, development, acquisitions and dispositions.
Asset manager
Develops property-level strategies to maximize asset value and cash flow and meet an owner’s objectives for its properties.
Senior asset manager
Directs asset management responsibilities for a diverse portfolio of properties.
Director, asset management
Provides leadership across various departments and is accountable for portfolio performance.
Senior director, asset management
Identifies growth opportunities and recommends value-maximizing and risk-mitigation strategies within a portfolio.
Vice president, asset management
Develops long-term strategies to maximize growth opportunities, while helping asset management teams and people achieve their full potential.
Summer Students
One of the best ways of entering the real estate industry is by gaining valuable experience while you’re still a student. Our summer student program is designed to give college and university students an opportunity to learn some of the fundamentals while exposing them to the wide variety of career options available at GWLRA.
How it works
Once students arrive in early May, they’re invited to an orientation session with several members of our executive team welcoming them and offering them career advice. They’re also invited and encouraged to take part in our staff socials to network and learn about their roles.
Over the course of the summer, students will get an opportunity to tour several of our buildings, providing them a first-hand view of what goes into managing our properties.
Next, we split our students into groups and provide them with a departmental project that utilizes several different skillsets. For example, this may include providing recommendations for amenities and in-suite features for new multi-residential projects.
Finally, in early August, the students present their findings to our Executive Committee.
